In 1977, Peggy Greenhut Golden opened Greenhut Galleries. It has become Portland’s oldest year-round gallery representing many of Maine’s finest artists. Greenhut was chosen Reader’s Choice BEST ART GALLERY 2010 by Downeast Magazine as well as the Reader’s Choice BEST GALLERY in Maine by the Maine Sunday Telegram in 2011.
Peggy stated, “We currently represent 40 artists. Each month, we have 2 shows on exhibit; a group show with at least one piece by all of our artists, as well as a one-person show that features one artist’s work. Our artists paint in all media and genres — from realism to abstraction, landscape, still-life, figurative to non-figurative in both two- and three-dimensional mediums.”
Clients of the Gallery have said, “a trip through Greenhut is like a walk through a mini museum… always something that catches your eye, always such variety.”
A frequently updated website, www.greenhutgalleries.com shows all the artwork online and is a great tool for attracting clients from afar.
