Honeck O’Toole client Bill Creighton was honored this year for his persistent advocacy for responsible wealth. But he makes it very clear: he’d prefer not to be singled out. That’s because Maine Initiatives — an organization that cultivates social, economic, and environmental justice through grants and other support for Maine grassroots organizations — is all about collaborative giving.
Bill told us, “The essence of the Maine Initiatives work is coming together as community and a group. This award is not about me – it’s about the opportunity to get together with other people to do stuff. Playing together is what we do! It’s what I’ve spent my life doing.”
Bill is a founding Board member of Maine Initiatives. He supports tax reform as a fair means of reducing wealth disparity and fostering economic justice.
He became a Honeck O’Toole client just under 20 years ago, when he started the Mid-coast Maine Sea Tow franchise. His background includes boat builder, carpenter, heavy equipment operator, captain, teacher, small business owner, diver, electrician, plumber, ocean voyager, and commercial fisherman; as well as firefighter, EMT, Registered Nurse (ICU, ER, and home health).
Finding a balanced path has been his life’s work, and he’s happy to shine a light on all the Maine Initiatives people who’ve been honored.
